St. Charles began as an orphanage in 1913. In 1968, it became a home for children of families in crisis, and in 1973, the last orphan was placed.
The Home was originally staffed by the Grey Nuns of Canada. In 1968, the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church took over the administration of the home. It is presently staffed by the Daughters of Mary Mother of Healing Love.
